Gunn was adopted in January, 2019. Here he is with his new family!
Gunn sent us the following update: "Since I have been in my foster home I have put on some much needed weight and I am now at a healthy 44 pounds.
I am also completely house trained, my foster sister helped me with that.
"I definitely have an off switch, once I get some exercise or training time I love to cuddle and take a nap.
I don't act as much like a puppy anymore and I am much more gentle with kids around, unless they start to rough house with me, that tells me it is fun time, but I am still gentle.
I don't flinch anymore when people want to pet me, I have learned that most people are great and I love them.
"If I think my people or home are threatened I have a nice deep bark, but I don't use it much.
I still don't know how I am with cats, but I am gentle with guinea pigs in a cage on the floor so I think I can learn."
Gunn is a very loving boy. He has some trust issues when he first meets new people, but once he knows he won't be hurt he is very friendly. He loves kids and other dogs although he still plays like a puppy and likes to wrestle so could knock small children down.
Gunn is very treat motivated and learns commands fast but he is mischievous and likes to " counter surf" and is also having difficulty with house training, although he will use training pads when available. He likes toys and will chase balls and frisbees but usually won't bring them back. He gets distracted easily. Gunn doesn't show signs of a strong herding instinct but could possibly be trained for sports. He has a lot of energy, but if he gets his exercise, he would be a fantastic family pet who likes to cuddle. Hyper but gentle.
Gunn is a quiet dog who doesn't bark just to bark.
He is crate trained and knows the kennel up command as well as sit and lay down. His recall is very good but again, he gets distracted easily so a fence is a must.
Gunn would benefit from some formal training and would probably enjoy it and do very well.
