Cool Breeze was adopted in August, 2019 and is now known as Poppy. Here she is with her new human!

Early in July a "Cool Breeze" blew in from Kentucky.

Breezy was found in a breezeway of a store and wound up in a rural Kentucky shelter. When she arrived at her foster home, she weighed only 33 pounds, had intestinal parasites, and her skin was irritated. Her fur was matted and falling out.

Fortunately, all she needed was a little TLC, which her foster dad was happy to provide. After a trip to the vet, a dose or two of dewormer and a few baths with medicated shampoo, Breezy looked (and smelled) like a new dog!

The vet estimated Breezy's ago at three year, though she acts younger. She is learning house training and basic manners. She is very affectionate and gets along with other dogs and loves kids. Breezy has not been exposed to cats at her foster home so I don't know how she would react to them. She is good in the car but may get car sick if she has recently eaten. Breezy doesn't know what to do with toys but loves a good bone.

Every day, Breezy feels better and shows a little bit more of herself. Her recall is pretty good but she will take off after a squirrel. She would benefit greatly from some structured classes and they also help form a strong bond. From what I have seen she might not make a competitive sport dog and seems to run out of energy faster than most Border Collies but that could change as she gets even healthier, or she might make a good apartment dog as she is also usually pretty quiet.
