December, 2014: It's been about seven months since we've taken Tripper home. It feels like he's been with us forever, and we can't believe it's taken us so long to find him!

Tripper and Thor play beautifully. They are constantly playing tug, wrestling, and they play fetch together really well. Outside of play time, Thor doesn't care for Tripper to lay next to him or even brush against him. Thor has snapped at Tripper, but Tripper doesn't seem to pay much mind. They have not had a major fight or shown any real aggression towards each other. You can tell that for both dogs, they are used to being the only dog in the house. So far they have adjusted well and I believe they will continue to adjust to each others presence.

We learned that Tripper has some separation anxiety, so every time we leave the house he is crated. We have also learned that unless the door is zipped a certain way, he will push his way out. He's very smart.

We also learned that Tripper likes to sniff and discover what's in the trash. We are usually pretty good at catching him and correcting the behavior, but one night he got to the trash when we had some KFC. He gave us both a terrible scare, but the bones didn't seem to bother him any. As a result from this adventure, we work harder to keep tasty 'treats' away from easy reach for Tripper.

Tripper has also found his way out of the larger pen. He didn't run off; just ran to our sliding door and waited to be let in. There were no holes dug, but the door did have a big gap from the post, which I believe he jumped or snuggled through. As a result, he goes into the smaller pen. This pen has a 6 foot fence and the door is much closer to the post. Tripper and Thor have plenty of room to run in this pen and I even created some shaded areas and a water area so they are comfortable.

These are just a few of the many things we have discovered since we adopted Tripper. He's definitely mischievous; but we wouldn't have him any other way. Thank you so much for running this beautiful organization and helping us find the perfect addition to our family.

Tripper was adopted in May, 2014. Here he is with his new humans:
