Update: Doohan was adopted in November, 2005.
History: Doohan was found as a stray and taken to an Animal Shelter, where it was discovered he was suffering from heartworms. His owners were located and contacted, but chose not to bring him home. According to the owners, they found Doohan about 4 years earlier and he spends his time with them and another relative. Every Sunday, Doohan would follow them to church and sit on the steps, waiting for his family. GLBCR was contacted, with a pleading request that such a loyal dog should be rewarded with a truly devoted family. Donations for Doohan's heartworm treatment were gathered, a foster home was located, and Doohan came into GLBCR's care. The heartworm treatment nearly took his life. Struggling to survive, he spent time in an emergency clinic, hooked to lifesaving tubes, and recovery time was difficult.
