What can I tell you about Pax, other than he is “a lot of dog.” A Good Dog, to be sure, but there is a lot of him. His ideal home will an active one, with at least one younger dog who also loves to wrestle and rough house. He loves to learn and is eager to please, so dog sports would be just the ticket. I’ve marked him as “no cats” and older kids, not because he wants to hurt them (or anyone – I haven’t seen anything resembling aggression), but he is thirty-five pounds of pure muscle and enthusiasm.

Pax is typical of the pups we get in rescue. He was purchased from a backyard breeder by a first-time dog owner “because he was so cute.” (Seriously, look at him!) Fortunately, they quickly realized he was WAY too much dog for them and contacted GLBCR. Like most puppies, Pax is still very “mouthy,” and will nip at my ankles if given the opportunity. This is typical behavior for an adolescent herding dog and should be discouraged.

Pax is wicked smart and will love you forever. He has a tremendous urge to please, learns quickly, and responds positively to treats, toys, and praise. Everything he does, he does at full speed. The inside of his head is a very happy place!

Pax is a shameless counter-surfer. His favorite thing is my TV remote. We are working in this as well, but it’s compounded by how much he likes to play “keep away.” Chasing him just makes for more fun, so I’ve trading treats and actual dog toys in exchange for glasses and the remote.

Pax is going to be someone’s heart dog. Just so long as they puppy-proof the house first. We will require an experienced Border Collie home, because this busy boy is all drive and zero chill.
